Schools

All schools Gov. Ralph Northam ordered all K-12 schools closed for the remainder of the school year to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Chesapeake Public Schools Beginning Wednesday, March 25, CPS will update their hours and add additional locations for their Grab-N-Go breakfast and lunch. Meals will be provided at no cost to anyone 18 and under. Students must be present to receive meals. For hours and location details, visit bit.ly/cpsfooddistribution.

Portsmouth Public Schools Portsmouth Public Schools and the city have added five new sites to the food distribution program. There are now 17 sites in Portsmouth. Every Monday through Friday, starting Monday, March 30th and continuing until further notice, the City of Portsmouth and Portsmouth Public Schools are partnering to provide food program services for Pre-K through 12th grade students. All meals will consist of bagged food for pick-up only (i.e. no eating at the sites). The children must be present to receive a meal.

If tickets were transferred to you, the refund will go to the fan who originally bought the tickets from Ticketmaster.

Tidewater Humanitarian Awards Dinner The dinner will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. at The Westin Virginia Beach Town Center. The reception will be at 5:45 p.m. and the dinner and program will be at 6:30 p.m. Call (804) 515-7950 or by email if you have any questions or concerns.

The Virginia Zoo’s “Zoo To Do” event The May 30th event is canceled.

Salute To Summer The event was scheduled for My 22-24 in 17th Street Park, 24th Street Park and 31st Street Park. It has been canceled.

King Crimson in Portsmouth The performance on June 13 at Atlantic Union Bank Pavilion is postponed. The band and promoter are working to reschedule the show and will alert ticket holders as soon as updated information is confirmed. Fans who purchased tickets should hold on to them, as these will be valid for the rescheduled performance date. All ticket holders will receive an email as soon as a new date is announced.

Suffolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office’s CSI Forensics Camp The camp scheduled for June 15, 2020 through June 19, 2020, will be canceled. The office plans to host the CSI Forensics Camp in June 2021. The Virginia Arts Festival The Virginia Arts Festival events through June 14 will be rescheduled, postponed, or canceled effective April 3, 2020. To stay up to date on rescheduled performances, please visit vafest.org/message and follow the Virginia Arts Festival on social media @VaArtsFest. The Robin Hixon Theater, Clay and Jay Barr Education Center and VAF offices will stay closed to visitors, however, administrative staff will be on hand to continue basic business operations. Patrons should visit vafest.org/message for full information. 2020 Williamsburg Live, scheduled for June 26-27, is also canceled. The 13th VB Surf Art Expo which is held in conjunction with the Steel Pier Classic surfing contest Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-25, 2020 at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on the boardwalk from 2nd – 6th Streets has been canceled.

37th Pungo Strawberry Festival The festival is canceled and will be back in 2021.

The Newport News Greek Festival has been postponed until Aug. 27-30, instead of the originally scheduled dates of May 28-31.

April Lunch & Learn at the Virginia Tech Newport News Center The April Lunch & Learn session has been postponed for a later date.

Portsmouth Memorial Day Parade is canceled.

Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival RW12 is postponed until Memorial Day weekend next year (May 27-30, 2021). If you’ve already bought a ticket to Rooster Walk 12, you have three options related to your ticket purchases: keep your tickets to use at Rooster Walk in 2021, email info@roosterwalk.com with REFUND in the subject line by 5:00 p.m. EST April 17th for a refund (include which tickets you are requesting a refund for), or allow organizers to consider ticket money a donation by emailing info@roosterwalk.com with DONATION in the subject line. They will send you a tax donation letter for your records.

Norfolk Greek Festival The event, normally held in May, has been moved to September 17-20, 2020.

Hampton University’s 2020 Commencement The ceremony has been rescheduled for September 25, a well as the Opening Convocation Ceremony. Upon the completion of all academic and financial requirements, degrees will be mailed to the graduating seniors’ permanent addresses.

2020 Patriotic Festival The festival has been canceled for 2020 and rescheduled for May 28 to 30 in 2021. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled Patriotic Festival 2021. For updates, check http://www.patrioticfestival.com/.

City of Virginia Beach

Parks & Recreation: All events and rentals are canceled through Thursday, April 30, 2020. Recreation center memberships will be extended to compensate for the days closed. Members don’t need to take any action.

Cultural Affairs: The nomination deadline for the Champion for the Arts Award has been extended to June 1. For more information about this award and to apply, visit the Champion for the Arts Award website. The final FY 20 Community Cultural Arts Grant presentations scheduled for March 26 are canceled. Applicants will be notified of the next steps in the process. Arts & Humanities Commission meetings scheduled for March 26 and March 27 have been canceled. FY 21 Project Grant applicants have been notified that their grant presentations will be rescheduled for a later point. Farmers Market: All four Friday Night Hoedowns in April 2020 have been canceled.

Planning: The Boards and Commission meetings have been canceled for the month of April. At this time, barring any other operational changes, the items that were to be heard on the April dates will be heard in May. The Virginia Opera The final opera in its current 2019–2020 season, “Aida,” will also be re-calendared as soon as dates are determined. 2020 Williamsburg British and European Car Show The WBCC car show committee has decided to cancel this year’s car show. There will be a car show around the same time next year.

Miles for BTS (Brain Tumor Support) Charity Run/Walk and Silent Auction The event is postponed. The tentative reschedule date is Saturday, October 17, 2020. Organizers are awaiting confirmation from the City of Chesapeake.

James McMurtry at North Shore Point Downtown has been postponed. A makeup date will be announced in the near future.

The NorVa has suspended operations until further notice. The following statement was posted on the venue’s Facebook page:

“Our hope is that we are able to reschedule as many of the affected events as possible, but at this time there is no information on new dates. When a new date is announced, there is nothing you need to do: your tickets are valid for the new date and you will be notified. If a show cannot be rescheduled once the moratorium is lifted, a refund will automatically be issued to the credit card used for purchase within 30 business days.”

Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Museums Until further notice, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation — Jamestown Settlement, the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown and its Central Support Complex — is closed.

Smartmouth Brewing Co. All events and shows scheduled for the weekend at both the Norfolk and Virginia Beach Smartmouth locations have been postponed.

Currituck County Parks and Recreation has canceled the spring seasons for youth soccer and volleyball, and suspended the spring seasons for youth baseball and softball.

Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce All in-person events are canceled until further notice. The Business Education Seminar on cyber-related risk, the ribbon cutting at Sam’s Hot Dog Stand and the Transition on the GO event are canceled.

Commonwealth Brewing Company The taproom is closed and all events are postponed. The brewery is offering curbside beer pick up from noon to 8 p.m daily. They are also offering home beer delivery.

The Hampton Senior Center The center, located at 3501 Kecoughtan Road, will close at 5:00 p.m. Friday and will remain closed next week.

Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts Suffolk Center will be postponing large gatherings until the end of March. Anyone with tickets should hold onto them as the center works to reschedule the events, which include:

Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia The diocese has canceled all services and programs for two weeks.

Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art The museum is closed to the public. The closure will affect all museum activities including exhibitions, tours, public programming, studio school classes and private events. All Virginia MOCA events between March 14 and 31 have been rescheduled. This includes, but is not limited to, ARTini, studio school classes and workshops and other family and public programs. Commander, Navy Reserve Force (CNRF)’s drill weekend The weekend is postponed for all Navy Reservists. The reservists affected by this announcement will be allowed to reschedule to a later date with maximum flexibility. The Navy Operational Support Centers (NOSC) that were scheduled to support drilling reservists for this weekend will remain open to only support reservists that need imminent mobilization and mission-essential operational support.d will instead continue to actively recruit via electronic channels.

The Peninsula Fine Arts Center’s annual Artini fundraiser The fundraiser is canceled due to the fact that drinks are being mixed and served there, and the event draws over 550 people.

MEAC basketball tournament The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has suspended the remainder of its men’s and women’s basketball tournament, which is being held at the Norfolk Scope Arena. All spring sports competitions are being suspended through the end of the Spring 2020 semester. Fans who have purchased tickets to the MEAC Basketball Tournament for games which have not been played should contact the venue through which they made their purchase for refunds.

Suffolk Parks & Recreation Check the City of Suffolk Departmental websites and social media platforms as to their current status. Parks & Recreation will continue to take facility reservations during the COVID-19 closure. Citizens wishing to tentatively reserve the Planters Club, a picnic shelter, or rooms in the Recreation Centers may do so over the phone at 757-514-7250. Once normal operations resume, applicants will be contacted and will have seven business days to bring any deposits, fees, and other documentation due to the Administration Offices or Recreation Centers. Reservations will not be complete until the Rental Agreement is signed. Parks & Recreation recommends that applicants not make any other financial obligations associated with the facility reservation that cannot be refunded until normal operations resume and the Rental Agreement is signed. Senior Programs Programs at the East Suffolk Recreation Center and Whaleyville Recreation Center are canceled until further notice. The Recreation Centers will remain open.

James City County All county offices, facilities, recreation centers and libraries will remain closed until further noticeThe Convenience Center located on Jolly Pond Road will remain open for trash disposal. James City County DMV Select – Toano, will only process registration renewals through “Drop Boxes”. These boxes are located at each entrance to the EOC building, 3127 Forge Road, Toano, Virginia. Only personal or cashier checks, and money orders will be accepted. Curbside recycling is still being collected by TFC. Carts need to be out at the curb by 7 a.m. for service. Other closings include:

Chickahominy Riverfront Park campground and restrooms close Friday, March 27 and remain closed until further notice.

York County The Arts Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Comprehensive Plan Review Steering Committee, Historical Committee including Historical Lectures, Historic Yorktown Design Committee, Library Board, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Social Services Advisory Board, Transportation Safety Commission and Youth Commission won’t have meetings in March. Yorktown Trolley, Gallery at York Hall and York County Historical Museum will have delayed openings until further notice, and the YMCA’s Victory at Yorktown race has been canceled. The following York County-sponsored programs and events are closed or canceled:

York County offices will be closed until further notice.

All library programs are canceled through April 30.

All York County Parks and Recreation programs and activities are suspended until the end of April.

County-sponsored or co-sponsored events are canceled or postponed until the end of April including French Market, open-air market and Pirate Festival.

Effective immediately, all playgrounds at York County park sites are closed. This includes playground facilities at: Charles Brown Park, Kiln Creek Park, McReynolds Athletic Center, New Quarter Park.

The York-Poquoson Courthouse is closed to the public. Only emergency court proceedings will be allowed.

City of Hampton has canceled the following events Hampton Youth Commission Candidates Forum, the community budget meeting at Oozlefinch Craft Brewery, the American theater performance Saturday with the group 10,000 Maniacs.

Naval museums Naval History and Heritage Command has directed all U.S. Navy museums to temporarily close to the public. This includes the Hampton Roads Naval Museum in Norfolk.

Social Security offices All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday. Online services remain available at www.socialsecurity.gov. Local offices will also continue to provide critical services over the phone.

Antiques Roadshow Antiques Roadshow has postponed all of its 2020 Production Tour events.

Golf Tournament Hampton Roads Automotive Dealers Association’s 33rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament presented by BayPort Credit Union at Ford’s Colony is postponed until Sept. 16.

The Virginia Art’s Festival is closing the Robin Hixon Theater, Clay and Jay Barr Education Center and all offices will be closed to the public.

Riverside Health System Wellness and Fitness Centers in Newport News and Gloucester are closed for two weeks starting March 17.

The Virginia Department of Transportation Effective at 5 p.m. March 20, VDOT is closing offices and other non-public facilities to walk-in visitors until further notice. This includes all district offices, residencies, area headquarters and the agency’s Central Office in Richmond. The agency will implement a visitor-by-appointment process to ensure essential services and operations continue. Safety rest areas and ferry facilities remain open to the public, with enhanced cleaning and protective measures in place. Service on the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry has been reduced, and drivers and passengers are asked to remain in their vehicles during trips.

Tidewater Comicon will be postponed until May 15-16, 2021.

The Hermitage Museum & Gardens has decided to close the estate to the public and suspend all public programs and tours until further notice. Ceramics Open Studio at the Visual Arts School is also temporarily suspended until further notice.

Virginia Gold Cup has been postponed until June 20.

Colleges and universities

Sentara College of Health Sciences The college has suspended in-person classes, and online learning will continue, as well as skills labs, simulations, and clinical rotations in hospitals. Student questions can be directed to covid19@sentara.edu and to (757) 388-5846.

Old Dominion University ODU is extending its spring break another week, suspending in-person classes and moving them online beginning March 23. Students will return home for the rest of the semester. ODU suspended all spring sports. No announcement was made regarding the Monarchs’ spring football game, scheduled for April 18 at S.B. Ballard Stadium. ODU will close all its locations effective March 16 for a week, including the Webb Center, Perry Library, Barry Art Museum, Gordon Art Galleries and Student Recreation Center. On March 23, the university will reopen offices either virtually or physically. The university has canceled all events and activities, including athletic events, until further notice. All business travel for University and Research Foundation employees is banned. All summer education abroad programs have been canceled. ODU has created an online form for self-reporting travel to areas with higher concentration of COVID-19 cases or for individuals who have been asked to self-isolate or exposed to someone who has been confirmed with COVID -19. Go to the post-travel and/or contact exposure self-report form to complete it, and an Office of Risk Management representative will contact you. For questions, please call: 757-683-4009. The University intends to issue a credit or refund to students for room and board. Registration is now open for summer and fall. For summer studies, go to https://www.odu.edu/academics/summer. Norfolk State University has said all students need to leave campus immediately. Students can sign up for a timeslot from Monday to Sunday to retrieve their belongings. Card access to the residence halls was shut down March 22. Classes will be held remotely and online beginning March 23 until the end of the semester.

Tidewater Community College TCC is now on a remote-learning schedule and will remain that way through the remainder of the spring semester. All campuses and buildings are closed to students and the public through April 4. The college will provide virtual services only. Priority enrollment for Summer Session and Fall Semester opened March 16, and students can register for classes online. Open enrollment begins March 23. New students can call 757-822-1111 or email enroll@tcc.edu to get virtual assistance. TCC converted to remote learning on March 23 due to COVID-19. By April 1, the college will evaluate whether to continue remote delivery of classes or return to in-person instruction. Students needing support are encouraged to use TCC’s virtual resources. They can also connect with the college via chat through tcc.edu, by phone at 757-822-1111 or by emailing enroll@tcc.edu. TCC is maintaining a comprehensive web page with information about its response to COVID-19.

William & Mary W&M began online classes March 23 until the end of the semester. The William & Mary Athletics Department canceled all winter and spring seasons. All competitions for the remainder of the winter and spring sports seasons are canceled. All athletics related activities remain suspended until further notice. The college has indefinitely suspended all in-person, on- and off-campus recruiting. All athletics facilities at William & Mary are closed to the public until further notice. The university is closing all offices to the general public, effective noon March 16 through March 22. This includes all W&M campuses including VIMS. Updates will be shared on TribeAthletics.com and via social media channels.

Thomas Nelson Community College All classes resumed through virtual or alternative delivery starting on March 23 and continue throughout the remainder of the spring semester. Campus facilities in Williamsburg and Hampton are closed to the public March 17-30, but online services will continue to be available.

Hampton University Students have been asked to leave campus and all in-person classes are canceled from March 13 to April 3. All courses will be taught remotely from March 17 to the end of the semester. The course withdrawal deadline is changed to April 10. The $400 advance deposit for continuing students may be paid in two installments of $200 each. If this option is chosen, the first $200 payment is due by April 6, 2020 and the second $200 payment must be paid by May 31. Pre-registration for Summer and Fall 2020 will take place April 13-28. Advisement will be conducted via BlackBoard Collaborate Ultra. Residence halls will be closed. There’s a four-day period when students can retrieve their belongings from dormitories: May 7, 8, 9, 10. Housing provisions will be made for any international students who may need accommodations. The university will make arrangements for the international students who remain on campus to vacate the campus. The University will fund travel for international students currently on campus to return to their homes. In the event traveling home is not an option, the university will fund travel to an alternative location. All non-essential visits to campus have been cancelled, as well as all university-related domestic and international travel, and all on-campus events through April 5. High School Day and the Lady Pirates’ participation in the Big South Basketball Tournament is canceled. The Annual Conference on the Black Family, the Freshman Ball, and the Freshman Fashion Show are postponed. The University will remain open for business. All faculty, 12 Month Academic, and educational support staff and administrators should report to work as usual. Commencement 2020 has been rescheduled for September 25, a well as the Opening Convocation Ceremony. St. Leo University The university switched to online classes starting March 16, including its 8 Virginia locations. At its residential campus in Pasco County, students now are on spring break and have been instructed not to return. Online classes will begin March 23 for those students who attend at the main campus. The university has postponed its Virginia commencement ceremony, originally scheduled for Saturday, May 16. The ceremony will be rescheduled for a later date.

Christopher Newport University Classes are now online through the end of the semester. All summer 2020 study abroad programs departing in May have been canceled. Students will be fully reimbursed for any deposits or other financial payments made prior to the cancellations. For now, other recruitment activities including Admitted Freshman Days, All-Board events, daily visits and special group visits will continue as scheduled. Athletic events will continue as scheduled. Attendance at both the women’s and men’s basketball tournaments this weekend is restricted. Staff will report to work as scheduled. All campus buildings will remain open and all services will continue to be provided. Staff should take the appropriate steps to prevent illness and should follow existing protocols regarding notifying supervisors when using sick leave.

Regent University All in-person classes were canceled starting March 16 and will be offered online. University housing closed on March 20. Faculty and staff at the Virginia Beach campus should report to work as usual.

Places of Worship

The following mosques across Hampton Roads are closing until at least March 30: the Islamic Center of Hampton, Norfolk Masjid, PICC Islamic Center, CCC Islamic Center, Masjid William Salam, Williamsburg Mosque, Rumi Friendship Association, Masjid Al Quba and Chesapeake Masjid. The closure includes daily congregational prayers, Friday prayers, Islamic schools and all other activities.

The leader of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond suspended all public Masses including Sunday Masses, holy days and weekday Masses. All weddings and funerals should not exceed 50 people and should have attendance limited to immediate family members.

Ohef Sholom Temple The temple will be closed until further notice. They will be livestreaming services.

The Catholic Diocese of Richmond The diocese is advising all those susceptible to the effects of COVID-19 — people 60 or older; with chronic illness; or with immune deficiencies — and anyone caring for those people not to attend Mass.

Habitat for Humanity’s Habitat ReStore The organization has launched an online store at https://restorepgw.square.site/. Items are available for curbside pickup at both locations in Williamsburg and Newport News. Once a purchase is made, customers can pick the item up at the specific location it was purchased from.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services The department temporarily suspended in-person services at its field offices, asylum offices, and application support centers on March 18. USCIS offices will begin to reopen on May 4 unless the public closures are extended further. Employees in these offices are continuing to perform mission-essential services that do not require face-to-face contact with the public. USCIS will continue to provide limited emergency services. Please call the Contact Center for assistance with emergency services. USCIS field offices will send notices to applicants and petitioners with scheduled appointments and naturalization ceremonies impacted by the extended temporary closure. USCIS asylum offices will send interview cancellation notices and automatically reschedule asylum interviews. When the interview is rescheduled, asylum applicants will receive a new interview notice with the new time, date and location of the interview. When USCIS again resumes normal operations, USCIS will automatically reschedule ASC appointments due to the temporary office closure. You will receive a new appointment letter in the mail. Individuals who had InfoPass or other appointments must reschedule through the USCIS Contact Center once field offices are open to the public again. Hampton Roads Transit The transit system will run fewer bus routes and less frequently starting Tuesday, March 31, in response to the decline in ridership demand brought on by the COVID 19 pandemic. All bus service will operate on a 60-minute headway except the Peninsula Commuter Routes and some MAX routes. Select bus and light rail seats will remain tied up and unavailable for use. Customers are encouraged to exit from the rear of the bus. Extensive cleaning of all transit vehicles and facilities will continue. Light rail service will operate from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and weekends. Trains will operate on 30-minute frequencies. The last trains from Newtown Road and from EVMC/FT Norfolk depart at 8:45 p.m. Elizabeth River Ferry service will end at 9 p.m. Start times will not change. Paratransit service will continue to provide normal service, but demand has dropped significantly in response to the pandemic. A full list of what routes are running is found here.

The Mariners’ Museum is closed including the park and the Noland trail until further notice.

Fort Monroe has closed the Paradise Ocean Club and beach, the fishing pier at Mill Creek and its playgrounds and basketball courts.

IKEA As of 7 p.m. on March 25, IKEA Norfolk closed until further notice. The store closed to the public last week, but was able to continue fulfilling online orders by implementing a curbside pickup system. Now, click & collect will not be available at IKEA Norfolk, but ecommerce will continue for customers to order from ikea.com and receive a shipped delivery to their home.

Virginia State Parks, Campgrounds, Cabins and Bathhouses Governor Ralph Northam said on March 25 that state parks are limited to day use only. The state will also be closing campgrounds, cabins and bathhouses starting Friday morning.

Joint Base Langley-Eustis The installation commander has limited base access to “official business only.” These changes will be implemented at both Langley and Fort Eustis effective at 6 p.m. March 20. Access is limited only to Department of Defense ID cardholders with official business. Official business includes access to the Commissary, Base Exchange, Hospitals, Child Development Centers and Pharmacy. All visitor and guest passes have been suspended until further notice.

Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority Starting March 23, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority limited operations until further notice. All PRHA administrative buildings, including 3116 South Street and ALL public housing property management offices, are closed to the general public except by appointment. PRHA employees will be reporting to their worksite. Members of the public are encouraged to contact PRHA staff members by email when possible. Tenant selection for low-income public housing (“LIPH”) and Housing Choice Voucher (“HCV”) programs PRHA’s Occupancy and HCV Department will continue all activities related to tenant intake, eligibility screening, and placement for our LIPH and HCV programs. If you are on the waitlist for a voucher or a public housing unit, they will continue to process your application as normal. However, all activities will be conducted electronically or by mail whenever possible. PRHA will make all utility reimbursement payments to qualifying HCVP participants as scheduled.

Annual and interim re-certification appointments will be conducted electronically or by email whenever possible.

Until further notice, PRHA will conduct Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections only for new HCVP tenancies, moves for existing voucher-holders, and for complaints from existing voucher- holders.

Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA) Starting March 23, WATA shut down each evening at 8 p.m.

Simon Property Group All of the company’s malls, including Norfolk Premium Outlets and Williamsburg Premium Outlets, will be closed starting at 7 p.m. March 18.

James City Service Authority and Newport News Waterworks The departments have suspended disconnections due to nonpayment.

James City County Sports Courts The Department of Parks & Recreation closed public playgrounds, basketball, tennis and pickleball courts in accordance with guidance from the Governor and the Virginia Department of Health. The Chickahominy Riverfront Park Campground and restrooms closed on Friday, March 27 and will remain closed until further notice.

Ocracoke Island Hyde County has restricted visitation to Ocracoke Island beginning at 5 a.m. March 19. Only residents, property owners, workers and vendors will be allowed on Ocracoke-bound ferries. Starting Thursday, visitors with reservations for the Swan Quarter-Ocracoke and Cedar Island-Ocracoke.

Routes will have their reservations canceled and will be issued refunds. Reservation holders may call 1-800-BY-FERRY to secure their refunds. For real-time travel information, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on social media.

The Elizabeth River Ferry suspended daily and weekend services beginning 9 p.m. March 25.

North Carolina The state of North Carolina has moved into phase one of the three-phased approach to lift restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19. Local regulations are now in accordance with state guidelines and this includes the recommendation to wear face coverings if you will be with other people. Local businesses have the ability to require face coverings for their personnel and customers and this is strongly encouraged and enables local businesses to enforce the requirement on site. The Outer Banks will begin to welcome vacationers on Saturday, May 16, but it is important for everyone to understand that vacations and visits to the Outer Banks will look different this year. Businesses have restrictions in place which are mandated by state Executive Order 138. Stipulations are listed below.

Restaurants are only permitted to provide take out, drive thru or delivery at this time. No seated service, indoors or outdoors, is allowed under Executive Order 138.

Lodging accommodations are implementing different protocols and procedures to help ensure the safety of guests and staff. You may not see daily housekeeping in hotels, you may not have access to the fitness room or pool. We encourage you to check with your accommodations provider before arrival so you understand what may be different this year compared to previous years.

All visitation and programs are canceled until further notice at the Dare County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. Attorneys will be allowed to call their clients.

There is a “Stay Home – Stay Healthy” declaration that went into effect on March 28 at 5:00 p.m. and has been extended to May 22. The declaration directs residents to “Stay Home – Stay Healthy” by limiting nonessential movements outside of their homes and limits gatherings to no more than 10 people. Currituck County plans to reopen Corolla to nonresident property owners on Thursday and visitors on May 15. Every car should have a permit for a non-resident property owner, said county spokesman Randall Edwards. People must comply with protocol on social distancing and limiting groups to 10 people, he said. They should bring supplies and food for two weeks. Restaurants will still have to serve take out. As of April 22, beaches remain open. Beaches will be monitored to ensure that social distancing guidelines are adhered to and that there are no gatherings of more than 10 people. If guidelines are not followed, some beaches and public areas may be closed.

Individuals must wear a mask or cloth face covering only in public settings where other social distancing measures cannot be maintained.

The Beach Food Pantry has moved to an online application and appointment only process. Please complete the application at https://bit.ly/BFPApply. Once the completed application is received, you will be contacted to set up an appointment and will need to go through this process each time you need assistance. This process applies for those seeking in-person help and also for those requesting delivery because you are over 70 years old, you are immunocompromised at any age, you have received a positive or inconclusive COVID-19 diagnosis and you are quarantined at home. Bring a cell phone with at least 30 minutes of talk time with you, and bring the IDs you noted in the online application and display the ID through your car window. Stay in your car the entire time. Volunteers will call you at your appointment time and walk you through all the items available so that you can list what you’d like. Because not everyone has internet access, if you need assistance in completing this process, please contact 252-261-2756.

The North Carolina Division of Employment Security (DES) has resources available online to assist individuals filing for unemployment benefits. Due to high call volume, the fastest and more efficient way to file an unemployment claim is online. A fact sheet for anyone filling due to COVID-19 and FAQ’s are available. DES will ensure that claimants do not miss out on any weeks of eligibility due to the high call volume. Benefits will begin the week when initially attempted to file.

Sanitation Services are running on a normal schedule. Recycle Centers are open and operating during normal hours. At this time, recycling pick up services for commercial businesses is not available.

All library locations are closed and programs are cancelled. If you currently have library materials checked out, no overdue fines will be charged while the libraries are closed. Dare County Libraries offers a variety of digital offerings through the Virtual Library.

Food and Nutrition Services will automatically extend eligibility for March and April Food benefits for families whose cases are due a review for continued eligibility. Environmental Health will be conducting all future business over the phone or electronically until further notice. The Dare County Center, Fessenden Center, and Thomas A. Baum Senior Center are closed. Building or subcontractor permits can be requested by calling the Dare County Planning Department. Arrangements will be made for the issuance of the permit.

The Dare County Water Department has suspended all in-person access to its customer service offices. Water bills can be paid in a variety of ways: online, by phone (to a toll free number), by mail, by bank automatic payment, at billing office drive-through areas, or by at a deposit box.

Surf Pediatrics and Medicine continues to serve the community. They have segregated the two offices into a well and sick center to keep people safe during visits. Since March 18, the office has been a dedicated well center to continue preventative and chronic care follow-ups. Sick visits have been directed to the Kill Devil Hills center where the medical team can provide in-car services and have the necessary patient protections in place based on CDC guidelines. Surf Pediatrics and Medicine also has the capability to provide online telehealth virtual visits, which can be used for sick visits and chronic care follow-ups, such as ADHD, mental health, asthma, blood pressure, and diabetes checks.

Manteo

Dare Day 2020 is canceled but will return in 2021.

Access to Town Hall is limited. Call 473-2133 first to handle issues over the phone or online. Ring the doorbell and use the intercom prior to entry. Utility service disconnections, late fees, and penalties are suspended. Water charges will still be billed. Payment plans are available. Sanitation is on the regular schedule. Bulky item pick-ups are only Monday and Thursday.

Access to Police Department is limited. If it is an emergency, dial 911. Call 473-2069 for non-emergency weekday service or 473-3444 after hours. Ring the doorbell and use the intercom prior to entry during weekdays. There is a call box for after-hours use at the MPD entrance.

Town parks are open. Playgrounds and restrooms are closed. Pea Island Cookhouse Museum, Maritime Museum, and Lighthouse are closed. Downtown Marina is closed to visitors.

Town of Duck

Bulk waste permits are now available through the Town’s administrative office. Please call the office to arrange for a permit. The bulk pick up will be scheduled once Waste Management workers can collect safely for their workers due to COVID-19.

Commercial solid waste and recycling collection will move to twice a week beginning May 18. Due to continued safety restrictions in place by Waste Management to keep their workers healthy, the normally scheduled bulk pickup for spring has been canceled. Nags Head

The town encourages residents to conduct their business either online or via the phone. If you must visit a town office, wear a mask or cloth covering. If you have to come into Town Hall, proceed to the 2nd floor by using either an elevator or a stairwell, both of which are small and will require you to wear a mask.

Due to the pandemic, curbside bulk items/brush collection service, which usually ends on March 31 of each year, has been extended until May 24, 2020 to ensure that all of our property owners can take advantage of the service.

Town of Southern Shores

Approved items for collection may be placed in the street right-of-way not earlier than Saturday, May 23rd, 2020. Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Wright Brothers National Memorial

The facilities are closed.

Off-read vehicle permits on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore can be purchased online at www.recreation.gov. The status of each ORV ramp and beach route can be found at http://go.nps.gov/beachaccess. The Oregon Inlet Campground, the Seashore’s only year-round campground, is closed.

Outer Banks Hospital Beginning May 4, The Outer Banks Hospital is taking a purposeful and phased approach to increasing access to outpatient radiology and essential surgery cases that, if not taken care of within four weeks would cause harm to patients. This defined process includes sterilization and cleaning protocols carried out by specially-trained environmental services teams who have ensured – and will continue to ensure – surfaces are fully sanitized. The phased approach also includes ongoing review and confirmation of adequate PPE and other supplies necessary to support team member and patient safety. Patient screening and testing are required 48-hours prior to surgery and strict protocols are in place to address positive results.

Hampton Roads Regional Jail canceled all onsite visitation for family and friends, effective immediately as of the afternoon of March 13. The jail is providing one free video visit per inmate per week for the next four weeks, according to a jail news release.

The Virginia Department of Corrections Visitation at all state prison facilities is canceled until further notice.

Naval Station (NAVSTA) Norfolk Effective March 14, all scheduled public bus tours are canceled. As of Friday morning, no Sailors have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Norfolk City Jail Video visitation is closed to the public. It’ll be closed for two weeks, but attorneys will still have access to their clients.

City of Norfolk All City of Norfolk facilities, including recreational centers, libraries, MacArthur Memorial, Nauticus and the Virginia Zoo, will be closed to the public until further notice. All city buildings will remain closed to the public. This includes DMV Select, Commissioner of the Revenue and the Treasurer’s Office located in City Hall. Norfolk city employees will continue to report to work during this time. Essential services, including trash pick-up and services provided by Norfolk Community Services Board, will continue as normal. City of Norfolk is closing its beaches to all activities except fishing on the beach and exercise. All basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds and soccer pitches at city parks are closed until further notice. The Department of Recreation, Parks & Open Space has canceled or postponed some programs and classes. Automatic refunds will be processed for the before and after school program (participants will receive 50% payment for March and full refund for any future months), spring break camps (full refunds) and room reservations. Postponed programs include spring classes and therapeutic programs due to begin on March 30 and after. They will be postponed until summer session and rescheduled dates will be provided in the near future. The city recommends that people log in to Webtrac and ensure that your address, phone number and email are correct. Checks will be sent in the mail for payments made by check, cash or money order to the address you have on file in our system. Credit card payments will be refunded to the credit card used for the initial purchase if payments were made electronically. If you have additional questions, please send an email and include the name of the requestor, household #, address, phone number, class, registered participants and class start date.

Newport News Newport News Waterworks has suspended all service disconnections, except for customer-generated requests and to make a repair, according to a post on the Waterworks website. Most city facilities in Newport News will be closed for at least two weeks, from Sunday until at least March 29. Closures include city hall, offices at City Center, the treasurer’s office, the commissioner of the revenue’s office, the voter registrar’s office, the visitor center, public libraries and museums, recreation and senior centers. City employees will continue working, but liberal leave will be in effect for non-essential staff. The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter and parks will stay open. All city-sponsored events, programs, classes and activities scheduled during this time are canceled. The Four Oaks Day Service Center is closed. The Newport News Sheriff’s Office has suspended physical visitation, but video visitation is still available. The weekender and volunteer programs are canceled until at least April 3. Newport News Juvenile Services has suspended in-person visitation. The Department of Human Services will have limited in-person access during this time; clients should call 926-6300 for general information. Calls to the Child and Adult Protective Services and family service hotline (757-926-6161) are still being answered. As of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Newport News Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court are closed through April 6, except for emergency situations, including emergency protective orders. The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter is open normal hours for adoptions, as well as owner surrenders, reclaims and stray drop offs. Parks, including campgrounds and golf course, remain open as well. Solid waste collections will continue to take place as scheduled. However, the Recovery Operations Center is closed to the public. Newport News Police Department is closed to the public beginning March 31. The closure includes headquarters, North, South and Central precincts, the communications center, the police museum and the community and youth outreach division.

ECHL The ECHL, which includes the Norfolk Admirals, has suspended the 2019-20 season.

Minor League Baseball The league has delayed its season. This includes The Norfolk Tides. The team was scheduled to open in Norfolk on April 9.

All USO airport locations, in the United States, including the airports in Newport News and Norfolk, will suspend operations effective Friday and will remain suspended until further notice. USO will continue to provide programs and resources to service members and their families while ensuring health and safety for all. Some airport locations will continue to work with military commands to support large unit movements through airports. USO will evaluate operational status on a weekly basis and will reopen airport locations as soon as possible.

The Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office The office is cancelling all on-site visitation on Tuesday at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center for the foreseeable future. Friends, family & attorneys still have several options for communicating with their loved ones and clients, including mail, telephone and online video visitation and messaging. The Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Select services at the Hampton Treasurer’s office on Franklin Street is closed until further notice. The DMV offices in Hampton, Newport News and Williamsburg are closed until further notice.

Department of Motor Vehicles All customer service centers are closed until April 2. Driver and vehicle credentials have been extended 60 days. Transactions conducted by mail or online at dmvNOW.com will still be processed during this time.

The Virginia Living Museum will be closed to the public until June 10.

The Chrysler Museum of Art is closed to the public. The closure includes the Perry Glass Studio and all tours, classes and events.

Norfolk Courts: All non-essential, non-emergency court proceedings are suspended until April 6.

The non-essential proceedings that are suspended include:

All civil, traffic and criminal matters. Exceptions: Emergency protective orders, emergency child custody or protection cases, and civil commitment hearings, arraignments and bail reviews.

All court ceremonies, including ceremonies for juveniles receiving their driver’s licenses.

Prospective jurors in cases that cannot be postponed, jurors who are sick, or who are caring for someone who is sick, or who are in a high-risk category will be excused from duty.

Newport News Police Department has closed the Police Museum on Warwick Boulevard and is suspending all fingerprinting services. Police headquarters remains open to the public including the Records Division, but the police department has asked the visits be limited to “essential or critical needs.” The Property and Evidence Department is closed except for emergencies.

Harris Teeter will close all locations at 9 p.m. each night to allow time for cleaning and restocking. This will remain in effect until further notice.

All Publix stores and pharmacies will close at 8 p.m. each night to allow time for sanitizing and restocking.

The MacArthur Center will remain closed until April 30.

Pet Valu Stores are limiting the number of customers that can enter the store at any time to two (for safe social distancing). Call-ahead ordering for customers is now available. Customers can call their store to place their order by phone, and it will be ready for pick-up. Stores are updating hours of operation to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow associates time to re-stock and sanitize stores. Call your local store for more information. Stores are currently not accepting returns and extending the return policy period. Customers are being asked to keep the item(s) intended for return and associated receipt(s) until further notice. All customers are asked to have a list or photos of supplies ready, so that associates can help retrieve products. Customers will be directed to wait at the sanitized checkout counter to complete all in-store transactions (using debit or credit is preferred at checkout, whenever possible). All self-serve dog wash stations and grooming salons are temporarily closed. All local events and the annual April charitable event, Pet Appreciation Month and National Adoption Weekend, are canceled. Home delivery is available through Pet Valu’s sister company, Pet Supermarket. Brands including Performatrin, Performatrin Ultra, Fresh 4 Life, Head to Tail and others are available for delivery.

The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation announced on April 21 that it would extend its closures through May 31. The Williamsburg Lodge will close May 1. The expanded closure will not impact employees in the Historic Area, the Art Museums, Operations and related areas who are still actively working, whether remotely or on-site with appropriate social distancing. Regular hourly staff in these areas who are unable to work due to the closure will continue to receive full pay and benefits through May while on emergency administrative leave. Scaled pay reductions will remain in place for salaried employees. Most hourly Lodge employees currently working will receive full pay and benefits through May 9, then will join hospitality staff and part-time employees furloughed in early April for the balance of the closure. Colonial Williamsburg will maintain health insurance coverage and other benefits for covered furloughed employees and is waiving May rent for furloughed employees renting Colonial Williamsburg housing, as was done in April. A limited number of Colonial Houses remain open, as does the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, open-air tennis facilities and The Cupboard grab-and-go food and beverage shop. The Williamsburg Lodge’s Sweet Tea & Barley will continue curbside pickup, offering a limited menu and daily specials. The Lodge kitchen also continues as a hub for the foundation’s food donation initiative, which has been extended through May to provide approximately 2,000 meals per week to the food insecure living in Greater Williamsburg. The Governor’s Inn continues as a community emergency housing resource. Colonial Williamsburg’s Merchants Square shops and restaurants continue operating. New and continuing closures include the Historic Area interpretive sites and programs, The Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg, Williamsburg Inn, Williamsburg Lodge and retail shop, The Griffin Hotel, The Woodlands Hotel & Suites, most restaurants and most other food and beverage locations, The Spa of Colonial Williamsburg, The Colonial Williamsburg Regional Visitor Center, The John D. Rockefeller Jr. Library, The Custis Square archaeological site and Bassett Hall. Historic Jamestown is closed until further notice. Bacon’s Castle, Cape Henry Lighthouse, Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown, The John Marshall House and Smith’s Fort are closed until April 24.

City of Chesapeake closed all community centers, public library branches and facilities, including city hall, until March 27, and then extended the closures on March 24. The closing means all library programs and events are canceled as well as all city-sponsored athletic leagues and sports on city or school property. City parks and playgrounds remain open. The city also said it will be suspending water cutoffs starting Monday. City employees will still report for work and all essential City services will be maintained. People with appointments at Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare will be contacted to figure out how to proceed. The Chesapeake Animal Services shelter is closed to the public, but staff will still report to care for the animals. Snout and About is suspended during the closure. Chesapeake Mosquito Control is temporarily suspending inspections and treatments of individual properties. They will respond to all mosquito service requests by performing a general inspection of the problem area and treating immature mosquitoes in standing water in open or common areas. When the spray season begins, they will also be spraying for adult mosquitoes in the evening. City of Virginia Beach is closing its recreation centers, libraries and the Virginia Aquarium on Monday for at least two weeks, according to a news release. City parks will remain open, though events in the park are canceled. City council’s formal session — when the council votes on different policies and planning items — on Tuesday is also canceled, though a briefing will still be held for the body to receive a briefing on COVID-19 and “take action on one item.”

Suffolk is closing city facilities until further notice, including recreational centers, libraries, visitor centers, Suffolk Art Gallery, Suffolk Seaboard Coastline Railroad Museum, the treasurer’s office and the commissioner of revenue’s office inside city hall. This also includes Suffolk Animal Care, as well as the treasurer’s office and the commissioner of the revenue’s office inside city hall and their satellite offices at the North Suffolk Library. The Suffolk Police Department 1st and 2nd Precinct lobbies are also closed to the public. The Mills Godwin Jr. Courts Complex will be closed to the public until April 3, with the exception of emergency matters. All civic, traffic and criminal matters are continued until after April 3. Essential services, including trash pick-up, will continue as normal. During this time, all city-managed events will be canceled. All scheduled meetings of city council, planning commission, boards, and commissions are also canceled for the next two weeks.

City of Suffolk’s G. Robert House, Jr. Water Treatment Facility Laboratory will not be accepting water samples until March 31.

Playgrounds at the following parks are closed beginning March 28 until further notice; Bennetts Creek Park, Booker T Washington Recreation Center, Boston Park, Coulbourn Park, Cypress Park, East Suffolk Recreation Center, Holland Park, Ida Easter Park, Lake Meade Park, Lake Kennedy Park, Lakeside Park, Lone Star Lakes Park, Magnolia Park, Mary Estes Park, Planters Park, Pughesville Park, Sleepy Hole Park, Turlington Park, Tynes Park, Whaleyville Recreation Center and White Marsh Park. All other amenities in the parks are still open.

Portsmouth facilities and offices will be closed to the public, including recreation centers, senior stations, libraries, Portsmouth Museums, the visitor information center and the offices of the commissioner of revenue, the voter registrar and city treasurer. No in-person transactions will be conducted. All city events and activities are canceled until further notice.

Trash, bulk, and recycling collection services will under normal schedules. Behavioral Healthcare and Social Services will continue with regular business hours, though the latter will have limited access during these times. Clients should call (757) 405-1800 for more information.

Williamsburg closed all public buildings including the library and its book drops and the Stryker Center until March 30. The Williamsburg Regional Library has canceled all programs and meeting room rentals until April 5. All hold pickup dates have been extended and all late fines are suspended until the library reopens.

City of Hampton will continue to keep all city buildings closed until further notice. This includes City Hall, the Ruppert Sargent Building, city offices at other locations, libraries, community centers, golf courses, the Hampton History Museum and Carousel, The American Theatre, the Hampton Roads Convention Center and the Hampton Coliseum. Parks buildings, such as the Sandy Bottom Nature Visitors Center, will be closed and there will be no scheduled activities, but the public can use outdoor spaces during daytime hours. The city has closed all 81 playgrounds, including the ones located at schools. Also basketball and volleyball courts are closed, as those sports require close contact. Staff will periodically monitor the city’s beaches (Buckroe, Grandview, Salt Ponds, Fort Monroe) and Woodlands Skate Park to break up groups of more than 10.

South Hampton Roads and Peninsula YMCAs are closed through June 10.

The Simon Family JCC is closed to the public.

All Rosie’s locations in Richmond, Hampton, New Kent & Vinton are closed.

Virginia Beach Courthouse closed to the public with the exception of the emergency proceedings, which include bond hearings, arraignments and hearings for emergency protective orders, all criminal and civil matters will be continued until after April 26.

Suffolk Courts The Mills E. Godwin Courts Complex in Suffolk will be closed to the public until April 3 with the exception of emergency matters. All civil, traffic and criminal matters, including jury trials are continued after April 3.

The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry is running at reduced capacity until further notice. A single ferry boat will be running with departures from Jamestown scheduled every hour on the half-hour and from Surry every hour on the hour.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has suspended all tax preparation services at all sites until further notice.

Regal movie theaters are closed until further notice.

AMC movie theaters are closed.

TRDance is closing the studios for both structured and open classes beginning March 17. The studios will be closed until further notice.

The Naro is closed.

Williamsburg Area Authority will suspend all daily normal service after 8 p.m each night.

Yorktown Beach is closed to swimming and sunbathing. This includes the National Park Service Beach picnic area at the end of water street and the NPS beach west of the Coleman Bridge. The Yorktown Beach and Riverwalk Landing walkway are open for pedestrians. The following parking areas are now closed: upper level of the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace, NPS beach picnic area, Archer cottage lot (at the corner of Read and Water Streets), York Hall (301 Main St.). The following public restroom facilities are now closed: Yorktown Beach, Riverwalk Landing Parking Terrace. The public restroom facilities adjacent to the Freight Shed are open.
